Participate in Our Programs

Over the years, A More Excellent Way Health Improvement Organization in Vallejo, CA has held various events that help educate families about several health topics, including nutrition and breastfeeding. We also offer parent support and empowerment through virtual meetings.

Additionally, we conduct baby showers in an effort to address health disparities in perinatal outcomes of African-American women and infants. Feel free to sign up for any of our events. You may also volunteer and donate!

The 18th Annual Solano County African American Community Baby Shower

A More Excellent Way Health Improvement Organization and our community partners are inviting African-American pregnant and breastfeeding women and expectant fathers to the virtual and drive-thru “More Excellent Way Community Baby Shower” on February 25, 2023.

The Zoom celebration is from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the Drive-Thru Health Fair at the Second Baptist Church at 1170 Benicia Road Vallejo.

This event has received funding from the Solano First Five Children’s and Families Commission. It is free of charge and will include Zoom health and education workshops and a drive-thru health and resource fair that will include incentives and free food. The baby shower will assist the couples in accessing prenatal, safety, and other health care services and essential supplies.

Black babies die twice the rate of other babies before they reach their first birthday. African-American women die three times the rate of any other race from preventable labor and delivery complications.

Improving the pregnancy and birth outcomes of African-American women continues to be a goal of A More Excellent Way Health Improvement Organization and several collaborating agencies. We provide assistance for Solano County families by promoting the importance of early and culturally humble prenatal care, safety, and community support to improve their pregnancy outcomes.

The event will be socially distanced in compliance with all the CDC COVID-19 guidelines.

A More Excellent Way Health Community Baby Shower will be held free of charge on Saturday, February 25th, 2023. The Zoom celebration is from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the Shower Drive-thru Health Fair is from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Second Baptist Church at 1170 Benicia Road Vallejo.
